Orbiter used to go by the name Sol Loco and it was one of the original rides that opened at the park in 1981. Although Action Theatre still exists in the park, it’s more used nowadays for education and music events and part of it hosts a haunted attraction, Spirit Manor.

This indoor theatre was a great way for guests to take a break from the sun and featured short interactive films like Days of Thunder(1994-1998), James Bond: License to Thrill (1998), Escape from Dino Island 3D (1999), Stan Lee’s 7th Portal (2001), SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D (2003), The Fantastic World of Hanna-Barbara (2006), Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia 3D (2012), Monsters of the Deep 3D (2013), Robinson Crusoe 3D (2016-2017), and Our Canada (2018). It had both 3D and 4D short films combining features like sensor-equipped motions seats, wind, and mist. SkyRider was a classic coaster in the park for 29 years and entertained more than 23 million guests. It was reportedly sold to a park in Tuscany, to make way for further park expansion which resulted in another record-breaking roller coaster, Yukon Striker, which opened in 2019.Īction Theatre has seen well, a lot of action since its debut.

During the minute and half long ride, guests would go down a 25.6m drop directly into a giant 360-degree loop and then twist in a 540-degree helix. Standing room only! When it opened in 1985, SkyRider was Canada’s only stand-up looping roller coaster. It’s now rumoured to have found new sea legs at Carowinds.įor those of you who haven’t been on Jet Scream, this ride was a looping starship that gave you a gravity-defying sensation while rotating 360 degrees, ten stories high. Enjoyed by both kids and adults alike, this ride’s boats sailed quickly around a circuit while they sloped up and down along the ocean waves. Taking to the high seas on this ride, the Great Whale of China was situated in the Grande Worlde Exposition of 1890 area of the park. Guests took to the slides for the last time in 2000 to make room for Psyclone, which opened in 2002. Talking about water rides, this unique one featured two water slides (Pharaoh's Falls and The Watersnake) where guests would sit on plastic sleds and slide down at a steep angle, starting from 9m (30 ft) high! Guests could ride in their regular clothes, though there was no guarantee they wouldn’t get wet. Each bobsled-themed car represented a different country in the Olympics, with the lead car representing Team Canada. Riders would start in an upright position but as the cars picked up speed, the cars would tilt to the side towards the centre of the horn. The ride consisted of sixteen bobsled-themed cars that travelled at a high-speed around the track and was known for the massive horn that blasted when it reached maximum speed. It was removed in 1999 to make way for Boo Blasters on Boo Hill (previously known as Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Mansion) in 2000. During its existence, Bedrock Dock provided over 2.4 million boat rides.īayern’s Kurve was a roller coaster-like amusement ride that moved a train around a circular tilted track and had a mountain backdrop. Kids from the 80s and 90s will remember this one! Bedrock Dock was a small Flintstone-themed boat ride that glided through water in Hanna-Barbera Land (now known as Planet Snoopy). This ride splashed for the last time in 1994 to make room for Flight Deck (previously known as Top Gun), which opened in 1995. One of the park’s original 1981 opening day attractions was Zumba Flume. A classic log flume ride with two slides and a steep 12m (40ft) drop, Zumba Flume ended with a giant splash that entertained over 14 million riders during its operation. The ride was removed to make room for Racing Rivers in 1988. Pharaoh's Eye was an amusement ride that raised off the ground, tilted 90-degrees and lifted while spinning through stomach teasing loops - all while standing up (similar to Wilde Knight Mares).
